Mercedes recalls 944 cars due to possible problems with ESP

MOSCOW, Aug 14 (PRIME) -- Mercedes has recalled 944 cars sold in Russia from February through April 2018 due to possible problems with operation of the electronic stability program (ESP) system, the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology said on Thursday.

The ESP system may fail on some Mercedes-Benz Х-Class with additionally installed canopies due to excess of allowed combined weight burden that the canopy exerts on the roof. Some user manuals of the cars incorrectly say that it reduces support of the ESP system, while in fact it completely shuts it down.

The company plans to provide new user manuals for the cars and canopies, and upgrade the online user manual in case of necessity. All the necessary repair works will be done free of charge.
